What are the class sizes ?

Max of nine students in every Spanish class. And the classrooms are big, so there is plenty of space for everyone!

Are there any extra costs apart from the Spanish course ?

There is no registration fee, so there are no extra costs. A Spanish course at Barcelona Spanish School will cost the Spanish course price and the Spanish study books.We use the Aula Spanish study books You will need 1 book for each level. Each book costs 16 euros.

Are your Spanish teachers native ?

Yes. We only use native and qualified Spanish teachers with experience of teaching Spanish to foreigners. We use our own teaching structure, so that if we have to substitute a teacher due to sickness then each class follows the same Spanish curriculum and teaching methods.

When do I have to book to be sure of my place ?

Barcelona Spanish School offers intensive and well structured Spanish courses at very good value prices. And we are in the centre of Barcelona with very good facilities like free internet and outdoor terrance, so if you want to be sure of a place then please book online and pay for your Spanish course at least 4 weeks in advance.

Do the teachers speak English during the lessons?

No. Like almost every Spanish school in Barcelona and in Spain, our Spanish courses are based on the principle of immersion. This means that everything in the Spanish class is in Spanish from the text books to the teaching. The teacher will always talk to the students in Spanish. This is the method called Immersion which means that, you will be surrounded by Spanish as much as possible, while you are at the school.

Immersion is not only an effective and proven teaching method, but it's practical too, because not all the students at Barcelona Spanish School are native English speaking, and many Spanish teachers do not speak English! So teaching in Spanish is the best method for everyone in the classroom.

It sounds difficult, but you will quickly get used to it and you will learn more. But remember to have a dictionary with you especially for homework.

How do I know what course is best for my Spanish language level?

To make sure that every student is in the right Spanish class, we ask everyone to take our free online Spanish level test and we will contact you with the results as soon as possible.

Can I change my class to another Spanish level once I have started my course?

If you feel that the level in your Spanish class is not right for you, then speak to your teacher and she/he will make a recommendation to the Director of Studies regarding a change if she/he also feels that you are in the wrong Spanish class.
Sometimes the students do not agree with the teachers, but usually our teachers are very good at making the right recommendation. Please note that our teachers are qualified and experienced and only they can make the final decision about moving you to another class.

Do I get a course certificate after finishing my Spanish class?

Yes. You will received a certificate of attendance from Barcelona Spanish School stating the number of days that you spent at the school and the level of Spanish that you finished on.

Do you offer discounts for groups or returning Spanish students?

Barcelona Spanish School is already one of the best value Spanish Schools in Barcelona, but you are welcome to contact to discuss special prices for groups or former students of the school.

How do I pay for my Spanish course at Barcelona Spanish School?

What if I don't have to change my plans and want to leave my Spanish class? Do I get a refund?

We are a professional school with qualified and experienced teachers, first rate classrooms and facilities and very reasonable prices.

We only have limited places in each class and when a Spanish course has started, we cannot offer refunds if you decide to leave the class for any reason. This is because a student leaving leave with an empty place, which we always fill at short notice and considering our very reasonable and cheap prices, we are sure that you will understand that refunds are not possible.

If there are special circumstances, we can sometimes offer students the opportunity to enter another substitute Spanish course at a later date, but this is entirely up to the school and we reserve the right to decide how many days we can substitute and on which Spanish course.

How quickly will I be speaking Spanish if I am a beginner?

This depends of many factors, but generally if you attend a 20 hour a week course for 6-8 weeks, then most students will be able to speak and understand basic Spanish to a level corresponding to B1 intermediate according the Council of Europe language standards which we have designed our Spanish classes to follow.
