Spanish conversation classes:
Would you like to speak Spanish the way the Spanish do? Our Spanish Conversation classes are designed for people who live in Barcelona and who have good knowledge of Spanish and speak quite fluently using the basic grammar forms, but would like to improve their conversation skills and everyday vocabulary.

In each weekly class we cover a useful and current theme in more depth than a normal Spanish class would do. You will learn the most important and common expressions, phrases, small talk, idioms, vocabulary and slang.

In each lessons you will get word lists related to common and daily situations of the weekly subject. You can use the word lists to discuss the weekly subject in each class with fellow students and your teacher.

The aim is to boost your confidence, improve your pronounciation and enhance your knowledge of useful subjects. The result will be to strengthen your conversation skills and you will be able to get your questions answered by a trained Spanish teacher!

You will also meet some new friends in Barcelona, who are grappling with the language on the same level as you.

Subjects covered in our Spanish conversation classes are:

"Under the weather - Un poco pachucho "
Spanish conversation class about Health and medical issues
Themes include: General health, medical terms, body vocabulary visiting doctors, health insurance terms, medicine, prescriptions
Group discussions about health issues and roleplays which involve description ailments and remedies.

2.
"Shopping around - buscando gangas!" -
Spanish conversation class about Shopping situations
Themes include: Clothes shopping, sizes, sales, discounts, trying clothes, measurements, shop types, things that can go wrong, refunds, call centres, haircuts and styles, timetables, food shopping especially fresh foods and more.
Group discussions. Shopping experiences and roleplays.

"Family matters - Asuntos famliares " -
Spanish conversation class about Family and relations
Themes include: family members, role of the family in Spain, children, babies, gay marriages, adoptions, family support in Spain, paperwork, family issues.

4.
"To take away - Es para llevar?" -
Spanish conversation class about Food & restaurants scenes
Themes include: Shopping, ordering take-aways, cooking expressions, making restaurant reservations, restaurant seating, views, ordering, complaints, payment, eating habits, cutlery and tableware etc.
Group discussions about restaurants in Barcelona and Spanish food culture in general.

"Good news - Una buena noticia!" -
Spanish conversation class about Current affairs and news
Themes include: Vocabulary and terms from recurring news issues such as environment, politics, weather, world affairs, Spanish politics, political parties in Catalunya and Spain and political leaders.
Group discussions about current affairs and exercises using newspaper articles and roleplays.

"Those were the days - Los años de nuestra vida"
Spanish conversation class about History and tradition
Themes include: Vocabulary and terms related to history and historic events, famous figures in Catalunya, history of Barcelona and Catalunya, old customs, family history, geneology, family trees, family traditions, nostalgia,
Group discussions about historic subjects, traditions and customs. Exercises and roleplay.

"Winds of change - Vientos de cambio"
Spanish conversation class about Ecology and weather
Themes include: global warming, climate change, weather in general, weather in Spain and other countries, recycling, ecology,
Group discussions about ecology and weather. Exercises and roleplay.


8.
"Fit as a fiddle - Feurte como un roble! "
Spanish conversation class about Sports, fitness and well being.
Themes include: sporting terms and types, fitness terms, gyms, membership, traditional Spanish sports and sports celebrities, physical appearance related to fitness, weight.


9.
"Because I'm worth it - Porque yo lo valgo"
Spanish conversation class about Beauty and cosmetics
Themes include: beauty issues, terms, cosmetics, cosmetic surgery, stereotypes, role models, sex symbols, types, etc.
Group discussions about beauty issues. Excercises and roleplay.


10.
"Spanish Culture - La cultura española"
Spanish conversation class about popular culture , movies and TV
Themes include: Spanish culture, religion, culture shocks, cultural misunderstandings and differences, social behaviour, politically correctness, historical differences, Spanish movies, television and theatre.
Group discussion about personal experiences. Exercises and clips from movies.

 Class size and length
There are a maximum of 20 students in each group. Each class is 1.5 hours.

 Class time and day
Every Wednesday from 19.30 to 21.00

 Special terms
Every Wednesday from 19.30 to 21.00. If you order 5 or 10 classes then 1 missed class can be recuperated, if there is room on another conversation class. There are no refunds for missed classes.

 Levels
This course is generally aimed at students who communicate well in Spanish, but want to improve vocabulary and fluency in daily situations.
